Having come across Dukes Coffee Roasters when I was in Melbourne recently, I wanted to find out more about what was behind the large shop front window.

Chris Connell designed the interior using recycled tiles and reclaimed timber. The tiles stand out against the minimalist background giving personality and a sense of history to the space. The designer’s approach is also in-line with the ethically sourced coffee available at the store.

I particularly love the wooden pegboard used to display the menu. I’ve recently noticed a few places using pegboards brilliantly in both small formats or as a feature wall. It offers a lot of flexibility, whether to showcase menus or various items. The outdoor signs made of wrought iron are also beautiful and give a bit of an artisan feel. And the coffee is highly recommended.
